Ahmed Kooros, Ph.D.

Principal

Dr. Ahmed Kooros received his Ph.D. in Mathematical Economics from the University of Southern California in 1960. He served on the faculty of USC as a lecturer teaching Econometrics before accepting the position of Assistant Professor at Rutgers University. Later, he became an Associate Professor at Santa Clara University, and Senior Fellow at the Institute for Mathematical Studies in Social Sciences, Stanford University.

Traveling to his native Iran in 1968, Dr. Kooros joined the staff of the Central Bank of Iran as Director of the Research Department, becoming Vice Governor of the Central Bank, for Economic Affairs, in 1971. In rapidly developing Iran, Dr. Kooros participated in formulating and monitoring monetary, fiscal, and foreign exchange policies, as well as determining the price and production level for oil and gas for Iran, as a member of OPEC. In 1971, Dr. Kooros began his involvement with the Iranian High Economic Council. In 1973 he was appointed Deputy Minister in charge of Economic Affairs and Oil in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, where he served until May, 1979. As Deputy Minister, Dr. Kooros helped formulate National fiscal and budgetary policies, and assess and review their impact on the performance of the economy. He also formulated monetary, fiscal, and foreign exchange policies as a member of the High Credit and Currency Council of the Central Bank of Iran.

In July 1979, after returning to the United States, Dr. Kooros joined the Council for Energy Resource Tribes (CERT). A non-profit organization providing expert assistance to North American Indian tribes, CERT enables tribes to more optimally utilize and invest their energy and financial resources for their future development, financial security and prosperity.

In recent years, Dr. Kooros has focused on investment management and his own personal Economic research interests. He lives in Colorado with Angela, his wife of 47 years. They have two children: Paul Tooraj, and Carmel Parvine.
